Metal Assault - Breaking The Law

Metal Assault completely loses it in the best way possible on the careening “Breaking The Law.” Judas Priest gets the utmost reverence and respect with this wall of sound approach. Despite the short run time, the sheer size of the thing feels majestic—a force of nature they make sure that it has this deeply compelling quality. They hold nothing back by allowing the lyrics to be effortlessly matched by the driving, pulsating groove. Subtle this is not, but they do appear to adore the original, hence why this approach feels doubly refreshing. Rhythms are brought far beyond the breaking point as the song flirts with the concept of complete collapse.

No quiet open at all. They dive headfirst into things. The guitar athletics are dizzying as they cascade downwards into this swirling, churning mixture. They simply let the song take on this confrontational assault on the senses, crushing the listener into submission. Vocals work together to offer a counterpoint to the chaotic nature of the rest of the track. Sung with such defiance, the lyrics have a distinct edge thanks to their delivery. Within the sound, there are little gnarled twists and turns that help to show that, despite being a cover, this song is genuinely theirs as they go headfirst into the wild raging present allowing for the track to have a spirited, insane disposition.
